Little Green Pig are looking for a Workshop Leader for our After School Clubs in Eastbourne, Sussex. We are looking for a dynamic and inspiring facilitator to lead our free weekly After School Club in creative writing and communication for ages 7 to 11 year olds. If you’re a writer/journalist/poet/ educator/creative facilitator with experience of working with children and young people, based in or near Eastbourne, please get in touch via the below form!

About the role:

  • Designing and delivering weekly workshops for a group of up to 15 children aged 7 to 11 that will be fun, imaginative and inspire their literacy & listening skills, communication, creative writing and confidence. Supported in programme creation ideas by Little Green Pig’s managers.

  • Workshops to include group games, exercises and activities for example creating comics/stories/poetry/zines/plays/travel guides and all sorts of writing projects leading to publications, performances and podcasts.

  • Leading 2 hour workshops that are free for local children to take part in After School, supported in the delivery by a team of volunteer Story and Illustrator Mentors. Once a week clubs during term time, 2.45pm to 5pm including team briefings, at a central Eastbourne location. Recruitment of children and families communication is not the role of the Workshop Leader.

  • £125 fees per 2.5 hour weekly sessions delivered during term time, to include preparation and planning. £100 per term in additional for planning meetings. Materials and resources provided by Little Green Pig.

  • Freelance Workshop Leader contract from December 2024/January 2025 until July 2025, with the possibility of being extended subject to funding. 3 months probation period.

  • Refresher Training in our Safeguarding Policies and Procedures will be done. We will ask for an Enhanced DBS check to be done and take two references for the Workshop Leader in role.
