We're positively buzzing with all of the brilliant imaginative ideas that Little Green Pig young writers have created this term. Grab yourself a long cold drink and settle in as we share our top stories and news with you!

This Volunteers Week we're celebrating the contribution of our brilliant volunteers! We couldn't do our work without them and we're so proud of all that we achieve together. A massive THANK YOU to you all!

We're also excited to bring news of our work this past term - from learning about newts and slow worms to creating comics and planning the future of Little Green Pig - it's been a busy few months.

As we look towards the end of 2022, it's a perfect time to reflect on and celebrate all that we've achieved and learnt this past year. Grab a cup of something warming and enjoy reading and listening to poetry and story extracts written by children and young people across our 5 creative writing clubs.

Welcome to all our after school club members, staff, volunteers and workshop leaders as the new term begins. We hope that you have all had a restful and exciting summer and we are looking forward to getting stuck into lots more creative activities as the school year starts up again.

Welcome to our July debrief where we sound the ‘School’s Out’ claxon with slightly reduced energy levels, struggling to raise anything but an ice-cream after these extreme temperatures. It’s been a cracking year with our club members producing some of their best work and end of term gatherings with parents, volunteers and workshop leaders celebrating their amazing achievements.

Happy Summertime!! It’s officially here and if you didn’t welcome in the Solstice as part of a dawn audience, there’s plenty of time to channel your hazy-day energies toward the festival season. We’re feeling truly immersed already with our recent takeover at Brighton Festival’s Riwaq stage and our participation in the inaugural Brighton Book Festival. Hats off to Afrori Books and The Feminist Bookshop for spearheading…

If it be known as the merry month of May, it certainly hasn’t disappointed!  There’s a palpable glow radiating from LGP HQ as we take stock after our Takeover weekend at Brighton Festival’s Riwaq stage on Hove seafront, and that’s not to be confused with the minor cases of sunburn some of us developed.  We gathered in force; volunteers, parents, carers, siblings and friends, writers, poets, musicians and most importantly…

It’s that wonderful time of the year when everything is bursting into life with new shoots & buds, new hatchlings and new beginnings!  We’ve certainly had a few new starts going on at Little Green Pig HQ, moving offices to join the amazing band of charities and voluntary groups based at Community Base in Brighton.  We feel very much at home and in affinity with our neighbours who contribute so much to the city and beyond.  Another refresh we’ve had is our website which is looking brighter and certainly more user friendly…

Spring is officially here! With the equinox ushering in longer, warmer days, Little Green Pig HQ is alive with activity as we look forward to a bustling agenda over coming months.  Plans for our takeover weekend at Brighton Festival’s Riwaq stage on 21 & 22 May are taking shape and we couldn’t be more delighted to integrate our programme into such an inspiring space. Identified by guest co-director Marwa Al Sabouni as a threshold for exchange; it will be a semi-open space where the landscape of the seafront merges with the bustle of workshops and poetry readings, where generations can mingle and children and young people can explore their creative potential…

We’re hoping this finds you safe and well after the drama that storms Dudley, Eunice and Franklin brought with them?! As we continue to hunt for missing trampolines, fence panels and wheelie bins, we can only hope that March arrives more in the guise of a kitten than a lion and just keep focused on the joys

As we nudge toward the end of January, we hope we’re not too late to wish you all a very healthy, hopeful and happy new year ahead! With ‘business as usual’ remaining a somewhat distant prospect, we’re nonetheless excited about our plans for 2022 building on so many of the brilliant projects and themed work we accomplished last

T’is the season to be jolly and despite gloomier developments of late, we’re firmly channeling our festive spirit! Stockings are hung, the halls are decked and reindeer feeding stations stocked high with carrots at LGP outposts across the region. With that in mind, we’re delighted to share…

November; the month of bonfires, candied apples and apparently, National Authors Day! Initially promoted in the USA as a way of celebrating your favourite writer, the call to action was to send a letter praising their work and so help to diminish the often lonely job of the scribe. It’s a far cry from the dynamic we like to see at our clubs…
