Trustees’ Week Newsletter

Hello Little Green Pig friends. In this newsletter we're celebrating Trustees' Week and the wonderful work of our Little Green Pig Trustees. We're also introducing some new people and sharing our search for a new legal trustee.

Trustees’ Week celebrates the achievements of nearly one million trustees across the UK and the time, commitment and effort they bring to charities to help them thrive.

Welcome to our new Trustees...

Hello to our new Youth Board members

We're delighted to introduce the five new members of the Little Green Pig Youth Board. Our Youth Board is a group of creative young people who meet once every 4 months to share their ideas with each other and with us, helping steer Little Green Pig in the right direction.

A very warm welcome to Esmee Gray-Brennan, Zac Heffernan, Emi Kazcorek, Orla Chapman and Biba Greenhouse. We are really excited to work with these Orla Chapman and Biba Greenhouse. We are really excited to work with these creative, engaged and insightful young people. You can read more about all our Youth Board members here.

A big thanks to Jess

Jess Sterns has stepped down from Little Green Pig's board of Trustees, having been with us since 2021. Jess is an artist whose creative practice is participatory, collaborative and inclusive with a focus on disability and neurodiversity. Jess is the founder of ‘Dyspraxic Me’ working with young people, and was awarded a place on the Shaw Trust ‘Power 100’ 2018 list.

A massive THANK YOU to Jess from all at Little Green Pig for being an incredible trustee over the last 3 years.

Can you help us find our next legal trusteee?

Following the retirement of our current Trustee with legal expertise, we are looking to recruit a new legal mind to join our lively, engaged Board.

You will have a passion for young people’s creativity. You will like working as part of a team, and enjoy making things happen. You will be a clear thinker, an active listener, a good communicator, and are not afraid to speak your mind. You are responsible and committed and have the time to give. We will support your learning, and offer support and training where needed.

We celebrate equity, diversity and inclusion, and actively encourage applications from people who bring backgrounds, experience and perspectives that are underrepresented in the arts and charity sectors. We are particularly keen to hear from people of African, Caribbean, Asian and global majority heritage, disabled people, and those who have experienced socio-economic disadvantage.

We hold in-person Board meetings once a quarter in central Brighton, on a Thursday evening, and we organise an annual away day. Trustees often have actions to work on between meetings. We also hold launch events, and would expect you to attend at least one of these a year.

Please see the website here for more details or contact the Chair Pete Lawson on hello@littlegreenpig.org.uk

And finally a reminder about the Big Give...

In December we're taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge with a £6,000 target for the week long online campaign starting on 3rd December. Watch this space for more information how to take part and make your donation go twice as far.
